Great works are performed, not by strength, but by perseverance (1)

“Great works are performed, not by strength, but by perseverance.”

Samuel Johnson

A famous quote by Samuel Johnson explains how perseverance is a better indicator of success than any other strength. A team of students in SCET’s Data-X course developed an index to quantify grit and recently launched a preliminary survey to the public.

Over the past few weeks, with the support of mentors at SCET, Project BIT built a research-backed state of the art tool which quantifies Perseverance and Passion by surveying users with select questions. BIT (Berkeley Index for Tenacity) provides users with a visual analysis of their primary component GRIT and fundamental sub-components: passion, perseverance, courage, resilience, and conscientiousness. Apart from visualizations, the team will eventually provide specific recommendations to improve a user’s grit and track their progress.

Consider taking the survey to help Project BIT. It should only take a few minutes.

The team anticipates that the final deliverable will be open very soon, and you can be the first one to try it out when they launch!
