The Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (CET) and The Foundry@CITRIS are hosting David Koehn, the founder of The Batchery — a new accelerator in Berkeley — for a talk and panel discussion on angel investors, e.g., how to meet angels, how to pitch to them, what they’re looking for, etc. David will be joined by several prominent investor/advisors from The Batchery to round out the conversation. Speaker Bios:
David Koehn has over 15 years experience in entrepreneurship and innovation. He has founded several start-ups in ecotourism and enterprise mobility. David received his BS from Carnegie Mellon, his MFA from the University of Florida, and his M.Ed (TFA Cert) from the University of Alaska. He is currently pursuing his MBA through Johns Hopkins. David looks to invest in start ups focused on mid-market social enterprise, location-based solutions for small business, and real-time analytics/intelligence businesses.
Reena Jadhav is an entrepreneur with a passion for game changing ideas that level the playing field while building value for stakeholders. She founded and worked at five startups in mobile messaging, voice recruiting, marketing platform, community platform and loyalty rewards sectors. Reena is currently the Venture Advisor at an incubator to various start-ups. She is also a founding investor at The Batchery, a Berkeley incubator and accelerator opening this summer. Reena received her MBA from Harvard Business School in 1998.
Dr. Ryan Kennedy has over 25 years of insurance background. He is a published author and speaker on many facets of the insurance industry. He is an entrepreneur and angel investor. He has been a Senior Executive at 3 different companies as well as served on the Board of Directors of a multi-national insurance company. He received his B.A. in Business and Economics from Westmont College, earned an International Economics certificate from London School of Economics, and received his PhD from American College in Minnesota.
Jacob Chapman is an investor focused on seed stage technology companies solving hard problems with innovative and scalable solutions. He is a strategy officer for startups and emerging technology companies with experience in partnership development, data driven business planning, market research, intellectual property strategy, and product management. Jacob received his JD from Boalt Hall in 2007.
Kal Deutsch has over 25 years of experience as an executive in finance, strategy, product development, and marketing. He has experience with hands-on implementation and customization of a variety of web-based CRM, CMS, e-commerce, ERP, and ad serving applications, including Drupal, Joomla, Magento, and OpenX. Kal received his BA in Management Science at UCSD and his MBA in 1993 from Haas.
Sarosh Kumana is a real estate entrepreneur and angel investor with over 25 years of startup and management experience. He is a member of Health Tech Capital, a limited partner in numerous VC funds, and active with Sand Hill Angels as President of the Board of Directors. Sarosh received his MBA from Carnegie-Mellon University.
