Course
Course Description
Why do some innovators and their ventures thrive while others fail? What is the secret to feeling fulfilled, despite challenges? Here at the Sutardja Center we think that resilience is an aspect of thriving that can be practiced and learned. We think of resilience as the ability to bounce back – a skill related to growth mindset. Resilience is one of the most often suggested and least researched skills to enable founders and founding teams to flourish (source: Phebe Tucker, MD, What is Resilience). Coursework takes students on a journey from intention setting through resilience habits. (see graphic)
This course will cover:
- The meaning of resilience and how it applies to your situation as an individual, venture team member and/or venture team lead
- Neuroscience and cognitive science, at a high level, and impact on your actions, feelings and ability to thrive
- Practical tools, experiences/games and reflection to help you learn what promotes and impedes your resilience as we journey from understanding ourselves, our environment and our career/new venture aspirations
- Insights from guest keynoters with tools, tips and perspectives to help you bounce back from challenges
As you work through group-, partner- and individual- activities, this class is designed to help you and your current or future team. With your commitment to ongoing survey participation, you will leave a lasting legacy of best practices to build resilience in others going forward.
Attendance at the first 3 classes is mandatory in order to be enrolled off the waitlist.
