Embrace the Black Swan

Pandemics…Economic meltdowns…Wildfires…Terrorism…Climate Change. Crisis is the new normal. Innovation is the answer. In order to thrive in this new normal, you must be prepared to lead in the creation of new solutions to emerging problems. Identifying systemic problems hidden from view and developing financially and environmentally sustainable solutions is key.

How True Innovators Emerge from Crises

If you look at when some of today’s leading companies were started – such as Microsoft, Tesla, Apple, Uber, AirBNB – many were founded during tough economic times. When the environment is challenging, companies that succeed do so by becoming more innovative. This is where new companies have a unique advantage. Because they can move and adapt quickly, new companies can solve the problems that come with a constantly changing environment better than large, established companies where change is difficult.
