The Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology (SCET) is seeking proactive and organized interns to support the daily operations of our physical space. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating a welcoming environment, staying on top of details, and keeping things running smoothly. The intern role will support SCET’s agile, fast-paced and innovative environment and team and report directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

SCET is a global innovation hub headquartered at UC Berkeley’s College of Engineering where aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators take deep dives into the world of technology entrepreneurship and embark on the path to develop exciting new ventures.

Job Title: Student Assistant II, Front Desk / Office Operations Intern

Pay Rate: Starting at $19.18/hr

Work study: Yes, preferred but not required (see workstudy information)

Work Hours: Up to 10 hours/week. We are looking for coverage for our front desk Monday – Friday from 9am – 5pm/6pm depending on the day of the week. Students must work in at least 2 hour blocks, with preference for longer blocks of time, that is consistent each week. Additional hours on nights and weekends may also become available when there are special events. Students also expected to attend a weekly team huddle with Chief Operating Officer (will be offered in hybrid format). # Positions: 6-8 depending on scheduling needs

Start Date: August 2025. Onboarding and training will begin in early-mid August. Continuation through Spring 2026 and potentially beyond dependent on the students’ graduation plans and performance.

Job Location: In-person / on-site (required). This position will take place on-site at SCET’s brand-new offices at the Grimes Engineering Center in the heart of the Berkeley campus. Interns will be key to running and managing this dynamic new space.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist guests, visitors, and staff at the front desk
  • Manage shared calendars, meeting room bookings, and space reservations
  • Track and organize office inventory and supply orders
  • Support day-to-day operational needs and ad hoc tasks
  • Help maintain a clean, functional, and inviting workspace
  • Coordinate with facilities and administrative teams as needed

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Ability to work in a team and individually
  • Ability to work well under pressure, in a fast-paced environment with ambiguity and flexibility
  • Capacity to take the lead on projects and take initiative
  • Administrative experience
  • Organizational skills
  • Customer service skills
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with Google Suite (gmail, docs, sheets, slides, forms) and Microsoft Office (word, excel, powerpoint)
  • Experience assisting with planning and executing events preferred

Eligibility: These positions are restricted to enrolled UC Berkeley students. International students can refer to the International Office website for additional details on employment eligibility. Students cannot be appointed in any combination of jobs over 100% FTE (40 hrs/week) at any given time at the University.
