The Sutardja Center international students come from all over the world to experience UC Berkeley's entrepreneurial culture. At SCET, we believe in empowering innovators to positively change the world, and our students are at the front of this transformative effort by driving the creative forces behind UC Berkeley's unique ecosystem.

Startup Semester Program

Students: Clara Haba, Diana Soots, Rex Pan

Clara Haba

Clara Haba

Clara Haba is an Industrial Engineer and an entrepreneur from the Polytechnic University of Valencia.

Clara is highly passionate about contributing to a world that's more alive, more empathic and more fun. This led her to found Solo Fly, a travel agency for university students.

Clara is currently developing a new project called Your Friends are Boring, a web/mobile platform that connects young professionals through real-time in-person activities and experiences.

Diana Soots

Diana Soots

Diana Soots is a Master in Technology Entrepreneurship from the Technical University of Denmark.

As a highly motivated and driven individual, Diana is looking to reinforce a diverse skillset in order to bring beneficial change to both commercial entities and consumers.

For the past year Diana has been working as the lead of Innolidix, a startup aimed at innovating the open-pit mining industry through data acquisition and processing during the preliminary extraction stage.

Rex Jingyi Pan

Jingyi Pan

Jingyi (Rex) Pan is a senior student of Communication and Film Production at Hong Kong Baptist University.

With a strong interest in digital marketing and animation production, Jingyi has dedicated herself to documentary film making for the past two years.

As part of the Startup Semester program, Jingyi is expanding her entrepreneurial mindset while developing new skills. She is currently exploring new startup possibilities in technology innovation.

Denis Lai

Denis Lai

Denis Lai is a Master in Management student at EMLyon Business School, with a one-year specialization in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at UC Berkeley and Schoolab Innovation Studio.

During his studies, Denis gained significant international experience in digitalization and strategy working for top global brands of the automotive industry such as Daimler and Audi.

As part of Le Bridge Program, Denis aims to get a better understanding of the entrepreneurial process, and to leverage his corporate skills in the fields of technology and mobility.

Ghita Zniber

Ghita Zniber

Ghita Zniber is a student at EMLyon Business School and the Le Bridge Fellows Program at SCET. An impact driven person, Ghita is passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation.

With a diverse background, Ghita has gained a global perspective after having lived in several parts of the world in countries such as Morocco, France, China, Congo and now the US.

A Co-Founder o several Startups, Ghita is also an Operating Manager in a Moroccan VC fund, and part time consultant for projects in Morocco.

Pierre Lemaire

Pierre Lemaire

Pierre Lemaire is a French student, book author and lecturer. Having studied and worked in France and the US, Pierre acquired a strong business background, analytical skills, and public speaking skills.

Pierre has worked and volunteered for different companies and industries in areas such as Hospitality, Fintech, Education, Food, Technology and Consulting.

Most recently, Pierre published his first book in the French education ecosystem to help students pass the competitive oral exam of the top business and engineering universities.

Onofre Gasent

Onofre Gasent

Onofre Gasent is a Spanish entrepreneur and Co-Founder of Glissandoo.com, a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution for music communities and institutions.

After majoring in Telecommunications Engineering by Universitat Politècnica de València in Spain, Onofre has been pursuing the goal of creating a company in a sector that he is familiar with: music.

Onofre has studied French Horn in different conservatories and played with different orchestras for over a decade. Glissandoo closed its first investment round in the summer of 2021.

Tamasine Moxin Tang

Moxin Tang

Moxin (Tamasine) Tang is a Business student from Hong Kong Baptist University, majoring in accounting, finance, and entrepreneurship.

Having done internships in PwC HK, in banks, and insurance companies, Moxin has developed an understanding of the business world and is now exploring her interest in innovation and entrepreneurship.

As an exchange student at UC Berkeley, Moxin has been working on different startup ideas and is currently developing new innovation concepts witht her team.

Tjalfe E_ Rude

Tjalfe Rude

Tjalfe Egholm Rude studies electrical engineering and has experience on prototyping from his work in two medical startups Optoceutics & Vulcur Medtech.

During his bachelor's degree, Tjalfe has explored both medical engineering and photonics and he is currently focused on wireless communication in his master's degree.
His work at startups has given him an interest in solving early stage challenges and an appreciation for working together in multidisciplinary teams to search for innovative solutions.

Antonin Kirchner

Antonin Kirchner

Antonin Kirchner is a French student from ESSEC Business School and an SCET Le Bridge Fellow student.

Antonin launched his first website at 20 years old, a platform with notes and advice for French students preparing the business school exams.

Antonin Cofounded Arkairo, the first alumni to alumni job network that allows students to apply to the best job firms. With more than 5000 users, Arkairo is today incubated at Schoolab and ESSEC Ventures.

Ramzy Merrach

Ramzy Merrach

Ramzy Merrach is a Le Bridge student on his last year of a Master in Management degree at EmLyon Business School.

Ramzy has held multiple sales positions in the past few years, and has work experience in France, China, the Ivory Coast, and Australia.

Passionate about classic menswear and the clothing industry, Ramzy joined the Le Bridge Fellows program to work on solutions that can solve the hassle of finding clothes that fit when ordering online.

Victorine Minvielle

Victorine Minvielle

Victorine Minvielle is a Business and Marketing Master student from Neoma Business School in France.

Highly sensitive to environmental issues, Victorine wants to create a solution that will help people reduce the environmental impact of their everyday life.

Victorine is currently working on Absolu Compost, a company that addresses the problem of how can citizens sort their bio-waste to extract value from it, reuse it, and create a circular system.

Jacob García

Jacob García

Jacob García is a Civil Engineer, an Architect, and an entrepreneur from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, in Spain.

Passionate about the development of ideas and concepts from its origin to the final product, Jacob is exploring the mindsets that define successful entrepreneurs.

Jacob is currently developing Agora, a environmentally responsible platform that allows users to design daily use products in a sustainable way.

Elisa Ruonan Liu

Ruonan Liu

Ruonan (Elisa) Liu is a Business student from Hong Kong Baptist University, majoring in accounting, finance, and entrepreneurship.

As a Financial Planning intern in Hong Kong, Ruonan has the opportunity to develop her skills on finance, data analysis and assets allocation.

Passionate about entrepreneurship and innovation, Ruonan have been working on different team projects and testing new ideas in the aims of creating her next startup.

WIlliam Jorgensen

William Kjærulff-Jørgensen

William Kjærulff-Jørgensen is currently pursuing a M.Sc. in Technology Entrepreneurship from the Technical University of Denmark.

A persistent individual, William has focused his skills on practical solutions to complex technical challenges that can create a positive impact on the world.

William is currently working on a smart insole-sock system for the detection of diabetic foot ulcers and the prevention of preventable amputations.

Auriane Tang

Auriane Tang is a French graduate student specializing in Finance, Sustainability and Innovation at EMLyon Business School, Università Bocconi & UC Berkeley.

Auriane's experience includes impact investing (World Bank Group, Paris), investment banking (Barclays Bank & BNP Paribas, London), and climate entrepreneurship, and NGOs.

In her free time, Auriane writes about Energy & Climate, Arts & History, and is soon launching an environmental podcast.

Hugo Duverdier

Hugo Duverdier

Hugo Duverdier is doing a Master in New Technologies & Innovation at Neoma Business School, with a specialization in Entrepreneurship at SCET and UC Berkeley.

As part of the Le Bridge program, Hugo is absorbing the mindset of technology centric entrepreneurs and innovators, and is driven by the will of having a positive impact on the world.

Hugo has used his internships to work in different startup ecosystems, and to learn about new products and startups.

Raphael Boscher

Raphaël Boscher

Raphaël Boscher is an Economics and Finance Master from La Sorbonne and is currently doing a Master in Management at EMLyon Business School.

Having an attraction for innovation, entrepreneurship, and finance, Raphaël has had several experiences in the Fintech sector and more specifically in the payment industry.

He recently founded Gustant, a startup that delivers local and fresh products to individuals and professionals.

Andreas Klöfverskjöld

Andreas Klöfverskjöld is a Msc in Chemical engineering and a Msc in Economics & Business Administration from Aalto University in Finland.

Andreas has a strong background in entrepreneurship, and finance and is passionate about climate sustainability. He has worked for several years in the renewables industry with feedstock, derivatives, commodity-trading, and project based finance.

Andreas is currently working on a startup project that uses AI and machine learning to promote the use of natural-based ecosystems in carbon sequestering in order to mitigate the climate effects of excessive atmospheric CO2.

Frederik Holm Christensen

Frederik Holm Christensen

Frederik Holm Christensen is a Process and Innovation Engineer studying Technology Entrepreneurship at the Technical University of Denmark.

With a goal of making the world a better place, Frederik has developed a large passion for innovation and entrepreneurship. Frederik attended Berkeley hoping to improve his skill set within these topics, and as a result become more capable of creating impact.

 Frederik has co-founded AgroPrint, an agricultural startup that aims at making the agriculture industry more sustainable. Its current focus is to develop a new type of seeder that can drastically lower the needs for herbicides.

Adelaide Jingwen Jia

Jingwen Jia

Jingwen Jia is a junior student from Hong Kong Baptist University, majoring in Mathematics and Statistics, with a focus on Operational Research and Financial Risk Management.

After completing her internships in KPMG and Deloitte in the risk consulting and auditing departments, Jingwen wants to diversify her skills and explore potential opportunities to establish her personal entrepreneurial projects.

Jingwen has been inspired by the Deplastify the Planet course and wants to work with sustainability-focused projects in the future. Her team worked with Procter & Gamble to solve pollution problems in emerging markets.

Amaury de Castelnau

Amaury de Castelnau is a Business graduate student from EMLyon Business School in France.

Passionated about entrepreneurship, sustainability and social issues, Amaury has been working on wide range of projects in these areas for the past four years.

Amaury is currently working on a project aiming at connecting young professionals within their workspace through an online platform that hosts events and social gatherings based on users common interests.

Joséphine Catus

Joséphine Catus

Joséphine Catus is a 24 years old Business student from EMLyon Business School in France.

Joséphine is passionate about aviation, social justice, diversity, equality and inclusion, and has worked in projects involving urbanism, architecture, and social impact.

The Technology Entrepreneurship class made a big impact on Joséphine's understanding of innovation and the business cycle. Overall it was the openness and kindness of people at Berkeley, that captivated her during the semester.

Maïa Bourgoin is a Business student from NEOMA Business School, majoring in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

With a specialization in Climate Change and a passion for sustainability, Maïa is a strong advocate of technology and the benefits it brings for solving today’s big issues.

This semester, Maïa and her team developed a solution to map blue ecosystems on earth (as salt marshes, seagrasses and mangroves) to monitor their degradation over time to empower restoration projects that tackle climate change.
