On November 12th from 12-4pm, Phi Gamma Delta will be hosting a benefit concert for Nicolas Leslie.

UC Berkeley student Nick Leslie passed away last summer in the terrorist attack in Nice, France. To honor the memory of their son, Conrad and Paola Leslie created a study abroad scholarship to provide support for undergraduate students enrolled in Berkeley Study Abroad Programs.

The name “Nicolas” means Victory of the People. Nick’s parents believe that people will be victorious and prevail over terror and hate even if it’s one person at a time.  They believe this can only be accomplished by engaging with the world, challenging our fears and misunderstandings, and by building bridges with other cultures. They hope that the Victory of the People Memorial Scholarship will help develop future ambassadors for global peace and mutual understanding.

The Victory of the People Scholarship requires total minimum donations to be $50,000 in order to be established by the school. The purpose of the Nicolas Leslie Benefit Benefit Concert is to raise money for the fund.

If you’re in the Berkeley area on November 12th, come celebrate Nick’s life and the joy he brought to all of those around him. There will be hot dogs, t-shirts, and you will contributing to a very special cause. Tickets will be available for purchase with cash at the door. There will be several different ticket pricing options. (More information is available on the Facebook Event.)

The event will be held on Saturday November 12th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Phi Gama Delta, 2395 Piedmont Ave, Berkeley, CA.

If you are not able to come to the concert in Berkeley on November 12th, there is a GoFundMe set-up to collect donations.

Nick’s friends hope to see everyone at the concert to celebrate his life and the new opportunities that the fund will provide to future study abroad students.
