UC Berkeley Startup Studio: Making World-Class Entrepreneurship Education Accessible to All

Berkeley, CA – February 24, 2025 – Entrepreneurship is a powerful force for economic mobility and social impact, yet access to world-class education in this field has often been limited. The Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology (SCET) at UC Berkeley is changing that with the launch of UC Berkeley Startup Studio, a new suite of affordable, live online courses open to anyone, anywhere in the world.

“Berkeley has always been about pushing boundaries and making a real-world impact,” said Ken Singer, managing director & chief learning officer of SCET. “With UC Berkeley Startup Studio, we’re not just teaching entrepreneurship—we’re democratizing access to it. These courses are practical, hands-on, and built for doers. Whether you’re launching a startup, scaling a business, or testing an idea, our goal is to empower communities with the skills, strategies, and connections to make it happen.”

Taught by industry experts and experienced entrepreneurs, these courses go beyond theory, offering real-world, actionable instruction for startup founders, business owners, and side hustlers. UC Berkeley Startup Studio reaffirms UC Berkeley’s commitment to public service by making its entrepreneurial expertise accessible to all—bridging the gap between knowledge and opportunity.

Why Berkeley? A Legacy of Impact

UC Berkeley has long been a leader in innovation education, with alumni founding some of the world’s most successful companies, including Apple, Intel, Tesla, and DoorDash. Located in the heart of San Francisco and Silicon Valley, Berkeley’s unique mix of world-class academics, a culture of open-minded innovation, and deep entrepreneurial networks recently earned it the  #1 ranking for startup creation by PitchBook.

At the core of Berkeley’s innovation ecosystem is SCET, now celebrating its 20th anniversary. SCET pioneered the Berkeley Method of Entrepreneurship (BMoE), a hands-on approach that blends inductive learning, entrepreneurial mindsets, journey-based education, and network-building. Previously, this award-winning instruction was only available to Berkeley students and executives. With UC Berkeley Startup Studio, SCET is expanding its impact beyond campus, ensuring that everyone—regardless of background or location—has access to the tools to turn their ideas into reality.
