This is an intimate class of about 30-35 with the goal of giving students exposure to real world experiences and honest and reflective perspectives of the personal entrepreneurial journey. The format of this class will be a fireside chat series with successful, insightful entrepreneurs followed by extensive Q&A from the class. Every class incorporates a conversation with a new guest speaker with entrepreneurial experience to share their perspective on the subject. This class encourages an open conversation and a free flowing discussion; it aims to reduce barriers to lesser known information about the entrepreneurial journey. Furthermore, the class aims to provide information on how to navigate soft skills in entrepreneurship, how to navigate logistics such as funding and accelerators, and how to break into industries as an unrepresented member of the community. Students will learn how to personally navigate their own entrepreneurial experience. This will be a unique opportunity for both access and networking of seasoned entrepreneurs, many of them being Cal graduates.
This fall semester, the Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (SCET) at the University of California, Berkeley will offer a small, selective course that will focus on some of the less glamorous elements of creating a company.
