 Transcense, an SCET Venture Lab team and now winner of The UC Berkeley Startup Competition, is hiring to expand its group of five at its San Francisco office. Developed by researchers from Berkeley—Thibault Duchemin, Pieter Doevendans and Skinner Cheng, Transcense make group conversations possible between deaf people and their peers.The team demonstrated their product last week at the Hearing Loss Association of America conference in Saint Louis and was well received by the community influencers.“I gave a demo of our app last week to Toni, a woman who had been deaf for 10 years,” founder, Duchemin said. “When she saw what the app could do for her, she started crying.”They had hour-long group conversations with hearing people, and for some of them it was their first real discussion with hearing people, Duchemin added.Now the team is looking for talented individuals who want to bring true, meaningful impact on someone else’s life.The team is looking for:

– an expert in all-things speech/data science & machine learning/AI
– a backend developer
