The Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (SCET) is the premiere institution at UC Berkeley for the study and practice of entrepreneurship and technology innovation. SCET STUDENT INNOVATION FELLOWSHIP:  This program is a structured gamified initiative to help students grow their entrepreneurial mindset, participate in projects focused on learning cutting edge new technologies, learn about diverse and personal entrepreneurial journeys and make connections with fellow students, alumni and industry. SCET Innovation Fellows engage with the program over 12 weeks every fall semester in a series of in person and virtual challenges culminating with prizes offering unique networking and industry experiences. Fall 2023 will be the third cohort of the program.

EXTERNAL TITLE:   

  • SCET Student Fellow Lead, Technology (2 positions)
  • SCET Student Fellow Lead, Marketing and Content (1 position)

PAYROLL TITLE:  Student Assistant

DURATION:  5/1/23-12/15/23 (with the intent to continue in the spring 2024 semester pending performance and program review)

TIME COMMITMENT:  Average of 5 hours per week

PAY RATE RANGE:  $19 per hour (no tuition remission)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a SCET Student Fellow, you will be part of a team building and promoting this program while also tracking impact. Responsibilities may include:

  • Helping define content and recruit speakers for events to support the program
  • Brainstorm weekly challenges and manage participation
  • Maintain a system to track attendance, participation, feedback loops, student points and diversity consideration
  • Manage all speaker event logistic planning and day-of execution
  • Promote both the Fellow progam and specific events through social channels, grass roots efforts including speaking at SCET classes about the program
  • Help to secure and manage partners of the gamified gifts. This will include ways to promote partners for their support of the program and donated gifts and sponsorships.
  •  Identify possible program innovations and or extensions for future semesters (i.e. Crypto, NFTs, etc…..)
  • Create a recap of highlights, learning lessons and impact of the fall 2023 program
  • Produce a weekly newsletter for fellow communication

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Self-motivated
  • Interest in creating and supporting a Berkeley student community
  • Affinity for managing social platforms including Twitter, Discord, Instagram
  • Project management experience and the ability to handle deadlines
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative and analytical skills
  • Committed to a collaborative environment
  • Experience with Airtable a plus
  • Experience and interest in game theory a plus
  • Experience with event planning a plus

ELIGIBILITY:

Student jobs are restricted to UC Berkeley students who are registered for the current academic semester, or in the grace period immediately before or after academic semester registration (grace period defined as a semester or summer, whichever is before or after the period of enrollment). International students can refer to the International Office website for additional details on employment eligibility. Students cannot be appointed in any combination of jobs over 100% FTE (40 hrs/week) at any given time at the University.
