The Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology is seeking two student lab assistants to support the production of key vaccine and food ingredients from plants that are being grown and cultivated under the supervision of Dr. Ricardo San Martin, Director, SCET Alt: Meat Lab. 

Job Title: Student Assistant II, Research Assistant

Pay Rate: Starting at $22/hr 

Work Hours: 5-10 hrs/week

Job Location: Tan Hall and Oxford Tract Greenhouse (Rausser College of Natural Resources)

Job Description: We need 2 students to work on the analysis of the plant compounds used in food and vaccines, using RP-HPLC and related analytical techniques in Tan Hall, School of Chemistry. Ideal candidates must have previous laboratory experience.

Qualifications: Candidates must be very responsible, meticulous and willing to work 5-10 hours per week. Activities include sample collection in Oxford Tract greenhouse, extraction of plant compounds, independently operating the RP-HPLC, preparing reports (including statistical analysis) and keeping detailed records.

Eligibility: These positions are restricted to enrolled UC Berkeley students. International students can refer to the International Office website for additional details on employment eligibility. Students cannot be appointed in any combination of jobs over 100% FTE (40 hrs/week) at any given time at the University.
