10/08-11/12 Mindfulness Practices for Difficult Times: New wellness series w/ Danny Meadows, LMFT

The COVID-19 pandemic, civil unrest, global warming, politics, uncertainty, etc. are affecting everyone in a variety of ways. While taking care of your physical health is key during this time, so is taking care of your mental wellness. That’s why SCET is teaming up with the UC Berkeley alumni company Foresight, a mental health and wellness clinic that provides patients with a wide range of treatments and services related to improving mental health and lifestyle.

One of Foresights’s mental health practitioners will be offering a series of workshops covering different aspects of mindfulness techniques and practices. These mindfulness exercises have been scientifically found to be the key element in stress reduction. These practices will help students stay focused on what they have control over in these turbulent times. All are welcome to join.

This series will be facilitated online by Danny Meadows, LMFT. Once you have registered, you will receive the Zoom dial-in by email directly from Foresight. The schedule for these workshops is as follows:

10/8: Being Present in Trying Times: Learn skills for when it is difficult or impossible to change a situation and tolerate physical & emotional pain better.

10/15: Understanding Emotions: Labeling and Regulating Them: Help with problem solving, relationships, work / school performance. Learn how to influence which emotions we have, when, and how to express them.

10/22: Wake-Up! Find Value Right NOW: Learn healthy distraction techniques to manage difficult emotions.

10/29: Self-Compassion: Learn self care practices to lower anxiety and depression.

11/5: Listening to what is Within: To increase self awareness, increase empathy, deepen relationships, and improve attention.

11/12: Find Passion and Purpose in the Stillness: Benefit from allowing your passion to guide you to purpose and inspiration from being still.

Feel free to join in as many as you would like. While there may be some overlap in what is covered, each session is unique, and you can join on whichever day feels right for you. These sessions are free, but registration is required to obtain the needed Zoom link to attend these workshops.
