Join us for Collider Cup XII – UC Berkeley’s Premier Technology Entrepreneurship Showcase
The Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology (SCET) at the University of California, Berkeley is proud to announce Collider Cup XII, Berkeley’s premier technology entrepreneurship showcase. Collider Cup is a startup pitch event featuring innovative venture projects from students in SCET Spring 2023 courses. The event will feature venture pitches from student entrepreneurs leveraging the latest technologies and approaches to solve pressing problems for society and business. Learn about SCET courses, the Certificate in Entrepreneurship & Technology, and network with faculty, investors, industry, and students during the free lunch after the event. The event is open to the public and all are welcome to join.
Collider Cup XII will feature interdisciplinary startup teams from students representing every college and school at UC Berkeley. Student venture ideas will address a broad range of societal problems in areas such as the future of work, environmental sustainability, disaster management, future of technology, and the internet of things. Students in the competition will be pitching in front of a panel of industry judges who will provide feedback and choose the winners of the Collider Cup, which includes an array of prizes.
The event will take place on May 5th at 9 am PDT at Sibley Auditorium in the Bechtel Engineering Center on the UC Berkeley campus.
Audience participation is encouraged in this exciting competition, which will include live audience voting to determine the People’s Choice Award and a prize raffle. The event will also include information for Berkeley students about Fall 2023 courses, pitches from investors and industry, and a networking session that will include free food for participants. The event will end at 12 pm PDT with the announcement of the winners and prizes.
Partners and Prizes
Collider Cup XII is excited to announce the following partners and prizes:
TechCrunch Prize: The top three teams will receive founder passes to TechCrunch Disrupt 2023! They will also help lead the Berkeley delegation at TechCrunch Disrupt, and receive custom networking training from SCET.
SkyDeck Pad-13 Prize: The top team will be accepted into the SkyDeck Pad-13 Incubator program, while the 2nd place team will receive an interview with SkyDeck staff.
Amazon AWS Prize: The top team will receive $5,000 in AWS credits and access to the entrepreneurs on the AWS Startup BD team. The 2nd and 3rd place teams will receive $1,000 in AWS credits.
SCET Prize: The top three teams will receive priority registration for SCET Fall 2023 courses. (Courses with applications are subject to instructor approval.)
Aura Tea Community Prize: The SCET course with the highest number of course evaluations completed and the highest percentage of students present at the Collider Cup will receive a prize from SCET alumni-founded company Aura Tea.
Our Judges
Collider Cup XII will feature a panel of industry judges to provide feedback to students at the event. The judges include long-time Collider Cup judge, Jay Onda from Marubeni Ventures, Sandy Diao, head of growth at Descript, and Riddhi Khanna from the Berkeley SkyDeck Fund.
In addition to the panel of industry judges, SCET is excited to announce that for the first time, Collider Cup will have a student emcee, Zofia Kierner. Zofia is an SCET Innovator in Residence, an award-winning social entrepreneur, TEDx speaker, education and gender equality advocate, Forbes 25 under 25 laureate, recipient of the Ambassador of Polish Innovation Award and one of the Vogue’s top social activists. She founded and personally manages Girls Future Ready Foundation, an educational organization that spotlights the power of thousands of young women and runs multiple international projects.
