July 12 – Careers in Plant-Based Foods Info-Session

Join the Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology and Dr. Celia Homyak, Co-Director, UC Berkeley Alt: Meat Lab, to learn about the exciting opportunities in the rapidly growing plant-based food industry. Students with backgrounds in plant sciences, chemistry, biology, engineering, business, and social sciences are encouraged to join to hear Dr. Homyak’s journey spanning academia and industry working for some of the leading plant-based food companies and startups.
Dr. Homyak will also talk about her Fall 2022 class “Technical Foundations for Alternative Ingredients and Foods” that will prepare students for technical roles in the plant-based food industry and startups by helping them understand concepts behind processing, formation, and characterization of alternative ingredients and foods.
Bio: Dr. Celia Homyak is the Co-Director for the UC Berkeley Alternative Meats Lab and is a trained multidisciplinary scientist experienced in organic chemistry, biochemistry, and materials science. Formally, Dr. Homyak worked as a scientist and researcher in leading plant-based food startups including Ripple Foods and JUST.
